Content Description:

This beginner to intermediate program will teach participants how to gain a thorough professional understanding of the mental health issues that can surface for a woman during and after pregnancy, learn specific interventions to support the client, and gain a basic knowledge of Winnicott’s work and how it relates to mothers and attachment.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify 5 symptoms of a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder.

  2. Discuss Winnicott’s research on the attachment and the “good enough” mother.

  3. Distinguish 4 signs and symptoms of poor attachment.

  4. Identify 4 elements of a “Good Enough” mother.

  5. Identify 5 interventions and treatment options using evidenced-based techniques for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, intrusive thoughts, and poor attachment.
