Target Audience: behavioral health and social workers who serve in the role of counseling/therapy.
Content Description:
In Advanced level program, one will learn how ptsd symptoms present differently in the perinatal population and therapeutic techniques for treatment.
Learning Objectives:
1. Synthesize and evaluate at least 3 biomedical, psychological, and social research findings to construct an integrative trauma-responsive framework for Perinatal Mental Health.
2. Critically analyze and differentiate at least 2 presentations of trauma and PTSD in the perinatal period to formulate specialized diagnostic and treatment considerations.
3. Appraise and adapt at least 2 trauma-informed care principles to design culturally responsive clinical strategies for diverse perinatal populations.
4. Integrate and justify at least 2 nervous system–focused interventions within trauma-informed perinatal care to develop specialized psychoeducation tailored to perinatal clients’ physiology and context.
This interactive synchronous distance/live interactive(live virtual) webinar is offered on zoom on the dates listed below. Please note: registration must be completed by 10:00 p.m. CST on the day before your scheduled training session. This live webinar takes place on Zoom and is fully interactive. Attendees may ask and answer questions throughout the presentation and participate in instructor- led discussions. Course completion requirements: behavioral health and social workers must attend the entire course and complete a course evaluation to be eligible for ce credit. Certificates of completion will be emailed within 2 business days of course completion.

Helena Vissing is a Licensed Psychologist certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). In addition to being a trainer at Nurturing Mamas Network, she is in private practice in California. She practices psychodynamic and trauma-informed somatic psychotherapy as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Dr. Vissing is experienced as Adjunct faculty at several graduate institutions, including Reiss-Davis Graduate School, Antioch University, and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She also has experience offering consultations and trainings for perinatal providers. She has published book chapters and articles on the topic of the psychology of motherhood. Dr. Vissing has written a book on her somatic and psychodynamic model for treatment of trauma in the Perinatal Period titled Somatic Maternal Healing: Psychodynamic and Somatic Trauma Treatment for Perinatal Mental Health (Routledge). She has done psychodynamic training at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles and the Saturday Center for Psychotherapy. She is also host on the New Books in Psychoanalysis podcast and on the editorial board of the International Journal of Body Psychotherapy.
