Content Description:
This Advanced Level will discuss Changing Perspectives when Working with Sexual Trauma Survivors in Reproductive Work: Moving through Case Conceptualization to Clinical Intervention Implementation is designed for mental health providers seeking to strengthen their clinical approach when supporting survivors of sexual trauma during the reproductive period. This training emphasizes the shift from traditional symptom identification to more nuanced, trauma-informed case conceptualization that directly informs effective intervention strategies.
Participants will explore how a symptom-based approach can be thoughtfully applied within reproductive mental health care, while also examining the ways sexual trauma may shape the therapeutic relationship, including issues related to trust, safety, and relational dynamics. The course highlights practical, clinically relevant strategies that support both client care and provider well-being.
In addition, the training addresses the impact of vicarious trauma on clinicians and introduces actionable tools that participants can integrate into their own practice to promote resilience and sustainability. By bridging conceptual understanding with concrete interventions, this course equips mental health professionals to deliver more attuned, effective, and ethically grounded care.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
Analyze and apply at least two (2) ways a symptom-based approach can be utilized when working with clients in the reproductive period.
Analyze at least two (2) ways experiences of sexual trauma may impact the therapeutic relationship and apply this understanding to inform clinical decision-making.
Identify and implement at least one (1) evidence-informed strategy to manage vicarious trauma within their clinical practice.
